**Important**:
1. You need to change system locale to Japanese or use Locale Emulator.
**!!!** The game will not work if you're trying to run it with system locale set to Japanese and your "Region and Language" - "Format" is set to Finnish. You'll have to either change your Format or use Locale Emulator(if you don't want to change Format).
2. Save file by SomeHobo(cursor files are included): http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/8yL9otsK/file.html
!!! Paste in C:\Users\"User Name"\Documents\FAVORITE\星空のメモリア\save
!!! The cursor will disappear if you use the save file to unlock the CGs. You'll need to paste the cursor files in the game folder to fix that.
3. The game saves in the same directory as the original Japanese version(including the fan translated). If you have old saves the game cursor will disappear. Either, delete your old save.bin file or use the cursor files in the download link with the save file link. The game will crash If you use saves from the fan translated version, only the save.bin(for unlocking CGs) file is compatible with this version.
!!! You’ll also need the cursor files if you want to change the cursor style from “system” to “typ1” or “typ2” in the game menu.

Most people say that the new translation is better. I haven't tried the old one so I can't tell. Also, compared to the fan translated version by Fuwanovel, this version includes voice setting for Kogasaka Chinami in the option menu page 2. You can set Chinami's voice to Fujimori Yukina (voice actress from Hoshizora no Memoria -Eternal Heart-) or Minazuki Ren (Original version).
How do you start this? Clicking the memoria.exe causes a black box and an error with graph/fc_voice..
I also have the denpa version from the official site, and the one from erogedownload, both of those launch fine with hoshimemo.exe in the main folder. But this one only includes what's in the subfolder subfolder 'system'?... I did wonder before what the .exe in the system folder was previously, tried it and it produced the same error then too, is there a way to start the game with it?
It's in the description - "You need to change system locale to Japanese or use Locale Emulator". hoshimemo.exe is actually starting the game with Locale Emulator. Best way to avoid any bugs is changing system locale to Japanese. They made a lazy "localization" of their last two games. It's more like a fan translation. You still need some kind of Japanese locale to play it. Subfolder "system" is the actual main folder of the game. They probably placed the game files in subfolder "system" to make it look like an actual localization.
I HAVE system locale set to japanese. I doubt I'd have the yen symbol otherwise in path names... Not to mention all the other visual novels I have installed that require it.I doubt I'd be able to play Kamidori for example if I didn't have it...
I'm getting the same error while in Japanese locale. Fantraslated versions seemed to have this error when you launched the game with the wrong .exe, but there's not much you can do to change that here.
Can you post a screenshot with the error? I play the game just fine on different PCs with different versions of Windows. Other users I know also don't have any problems with playing the game.
Probably some corrupted files. I don't know. You can try Force Re-Check the torrent.
Also, you can try moving the game folder to the root directory or in Program Files.
Edit:
Blanchimont: Good to know that the reason is not system locale. I'll make some more tests later to find a solution for people with your issue. It will be good if I can recreate the error.
Here's the error: https://i.imgur.com/O4vGYHV.png
I downloaded the game a couple times, but that didn't work, I also tried girlcellys torrent, but that had the same error. Changing the folder didn't also help.
It's normal, girlcelly copied my torrent and reuploaded it. :D
Thanks for the screenshots. I'm going to try and recreate the error and will respond later. Please tell me if you tried running the game after moving the game folder to the root directory or better move it to another local disk.
Yes, I tried, root and Program Files(86). Also deleted the FAVORITE folder in libraries/documents/ (it contains the save for this) which is created every time you start the game before each try, so that's not the cause either.
Error message is saying something like "can not open graph/fc_voice". Bad thing is, I can't recreate the error. Game is running fine on all PCs I tried. I'll try and find the files Blanchimont mentioned and will post a link for those with the error message.
An update; Copied the folder to my laptop which is new, just got it a week ago, has win10, japanese locale.
At first try it throws an error of missing 'd3dx9_26.dll'. However, after installing directx runtime(webinstaller), it works.
Trying to update directx with webinstaller or DirectX Redist (June 2010) on my main machine(win7) doesn't work, error persists.
Which is strange as the win7 is primed for visual novels, if there are compatibility issues they should have been solved by now after 7 years of reading visual novels on it. I'm out of ideas...
Edit; just to be sure, tried it with antivirus disabled(of course while pc offline...), no effect. So that's one more reason eliminated from the list.
Edit2; Changing location/default location and timezone to Japan doesn't help either.
Edit3; Running it in compatibility mode for win7 on win10 on laptop works fine, so Spicy_Kebabs below is right, the issue isn't win7 in itself...
Update; Finally found a way to make memoria.exe work on the win7, after reading a post on fuwa about a somewhat similar error(graph_bs/CHR...).
On win7, go to Region and Language, and under Format, choose English(United States) and hit Apply. Now it should work. (Or, you can also set it to Japanese, that works too...)
Hope this helps...
Edit; After some experimenting, seems all other English options under Format should work too. The reason it worked on the laptop for me was it was set to English(Finland) while the win7 was set to Finnish and thus wasn't simply compatible with Hohizora. That particular option from the laptop doesn't even appear in the win7 settings so I just changed it to English(United States).
Thanks, I'll write it in the description.
I tested the game with Locale Emulator and Format set to Finnish and it's working. The error message pops up for me only if Format is set to Finnish and system locale to Japanese. System locale set to something else than Japanese gives save file error. So, as I wrote in the description "system locale to Japanese or use Locale Emulator". Gonna have to change it to something like - system locale to Japanese(if your Format is not set to Finnish) or use Locale Emulator.
Hey, I made an actual Full Save.
It contains the global save with all routes unlocked, saves for all the choices, one save at the start of each character route, the two cursor.ani and a .bat that opens the games save folder.
http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/8yL9otsK/file.html
The Cursor files are missing from the torrent entirely, only the system cursor is usable, you need to include cursor1.ani and cursor2.ani in the torrent.
A full save isn't really necessary since nothing is causing the cursor to disappear to begin with unless you try to use the 2 custom cursors that are already missing from the torrent, even Fuwanovels release of this visual novel has the two cursor files in the main folder, my guess is Denpasoft is not providing the cursor files themselves.
@Shaun While I agree it would have been better had they been bundled, the cursor files are included in the save file link in the description. There's also another link on erogegames support forum for them on mediafire, just paste this into the file identifier in a mediafire link; 6k2851a68fvoj8t
One wonders how Sekai missed that before release?
The save file is not here to fix missing cursor, but for people who want to unlock the gallery. The cursor will disappear if you use the save.bin file in the description cos it locks the Mouse Cursor Style option to Typ 1.
About the cursor files in the save files link: You'll need them if you want to change the cursor style from "system" to "typ1" or "typ2" in the game menu. That's one of the known issues I forgot to mention in the description. As Blanchimont wrote, Sekai did not include those files in their version.
I finally found a fix that's working! At least for me.
Everybody just says "change locale". I changed all Win10 language/locale settings from Japanese to English back and forth, tried different compatibility modes, nothing worked.
Here is what i did:
Open the old style Windows control panel > Region > Administrative > Language for non-Unicode programs > Change system locale > Japanese
Windows reboots. Done.
I don't even have to run the game in any compatibility mode now. It just works fine.
xsxla, it was going to be a lot easier for you if you read the description: “1. You need to change system locale to Japanese or use Locale Emulator.” Just saying that sometimes the solution might already be in the description. "Change system locale" is exactly what people mean when they say “change locale”... when it comes to Japanese games.
Locale Emulator didn't work for me.
Like i said, you can change every single Win10 setting regarding locale/region/format/language to Japanese, English or whatever. It won't work.
Nobody pointed out that it needs to be done over the classic Control Panel, because the "Language for non-Unicode programs" setting is not affected.
I'm just saying that there's only one way to "change system locale" and that's exactly what you did. It's not a fix that you've found, you just figured out how to do it correctly. :D
...and it says "or" use Locale Emulator. This is just in case, cos some people don't want to change system locale.
Can you upload the latest update of this game which has updated HD graphics, backgrounds, voices, and BGM? It already came out on 7/31/2023 on Steam.
